Default Camping trails and horses

I think some places either need to change the rules or have the trails better marked. More and more often we've been hiking only to have to move aside for horseriders. In some places it's downright dangerous.

On those trails, horses have the right of way over foot traffic. I'm a hoofer, not an oater but that's the way it is.

Well it does sound like it would be much easier for one that is on foot to get out of the way then for the horse to go around them. Guess you just have to keep and eye out both ways though.

If I can safely get off the trail on the downhill side, I will do so. If I can only get a few feet off, (which would put my head in a place where I'm in danger of getting kicked) then I move up the hill. This does increase the risk of having a horse shy away (they don't like seeing someone uphill from them). If equestrians don't like this, then I will suggest that they dismount and lead their horse past me. They don't usually like this, but I don't particulary rellish the idea of getting kicked in the head.

In the West, their are very few rules except the ones mentioned and common courtesy. Trails are not marked. You are on you own.

I usually don't trek very far,
when all around me horses are.

I have firecrackers...!!
