| If I can safely get off the trail on the downhill side, I will do so. If I can only get a few feet off, (which would put my head in a place where I'm in danger of getting kicked) then I move up the hill. This does increase the risk of having a horse shy away (they don't like seeing someone uphill from them). If equestrians don't like this, then I will suggest that they dismount and lead their horse past me. They don't usually like this, but I don't particulary rellish the idea of getting kicked in the head.
