Default Best Fishing Gear for Bass Fishing

My brother and I are planning a fishing trip as soon as the weather warms up a bit. Before we go fishing, though, I'm going to need some new gear, as my rod and line have both seen better days. We'll be going Bass fishing, so in your opinion, what's the best fishing gear for this? Any particular rod/line/lure/bait, etc.?

Hi...

Haven't been bass fishing lately, but when I do, in lakes I've found that "noisey" top-water lures worked well, as did artificial worms, using a slow, eratic retrieve.

In river fishing, the best lure I've used was an artificial worm, hooked in the middle, and just allowed to drift.

Of course, the bass also have to be in a hungry mood; the weather conditions right, etc.

I think I recently answered a similar question on another thread.

You can catch bass on nearly anything if they are in a biting mood.

For spinning, I use 4-8 lb test monofilament and mostly topwater or floating.diving lures lures (rapala, jitterbug, dardevil, etc) and a 5'6" Ugly Stick.

For flyfishing I usually use a 6wt or 8wt rod of 8'-9.5' and a floating, weight forward line. with a tapered leader and about a 4 lb tippet. For lures I use deer hair bugs and poppers or streamers and leeches for subsurface fishing.

To be perfectly honest, I don't bass fish all that much, as I'm just as happy catching loads of panfish as fishing hard for a relatively few bass.

Just my $0.02
