Default You can never have too many...

My husband and father both have fully stocked tackle boxes I am sure, but fishing stuff is small and makes a good stocking stuffer. So if you like to fish what can you not have too much of?

The thing with men you have to realize is that maybe their tackle boxes are fully stocked, but there are larger tackle boxes out there to buy. Give them a larger one and they will have a new task of filling that one up with all kinds of nice lures.

Flies, leaders, tippet material, fly lines (floating, sinking tip, and sinking), rods, reels, spools, fishing vests, flyboxes, flytying materials, etc, , etc, etc...

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day...teach a man to flyfish and he'll bankrupt himself getting the perfect rig together...

Trust me on this :-O

I thought that quote was "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day...teach a man to fish and he might not eat for a week"

LOL Grandpa- true for fishing in general. A flyfisherman will likely be both hungry and broke!

Since most of my fishing involves backpacking in to a remote mountain lake, I may have a slightly different perspective. My "tackle box will fit into my pants pocket.

What can't you get enough of? Time to go fishin!

The way I heard it was:

"Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer."

Your so right about that. My grandson is 10 and is just getting in to fishing. He has been fishing for years, but only now does he think it is the best thing ever. He has been eyeing my tackle box and lures so I am going to get him stocked up with fishing stuff. I can't wait to take him out to use it.

That's great! There is nothing like a kid having someone to show him the ropes. My kids are still at the age where I would be afraid to gift them with anything that has a hook. I can't wait until they are a little older!
