I remember years ago, watching a friends booth at the Anderson SC county fair, and seeing Emus across from where I was, so I went over to speak to the man with them, and as I did, one came over and tapped me on my head!!! I still laugh when I think of that, but I do NOT get close to an emu!! lol

They DO tap you in the head, LOL! I remember when we had a school field trip and one of my students stood by the fence to have a photo with an emu. As the girl was posing, the big bird extended its head over the fence and tapped her in the head with its massive beak.

Gawd I thaught it was my mother-in-law!!

I was on a raised platform overlooking an emu pen looking through the lens of my camera. What I didn't know was that there was an open slat by my toes and one of the birds took a little nip at my toes. My boyfriend saw the whole thing happen. Never even warned me. Had a good laugh. Thanks for my new wallpaper.
