    Colorado Camping Recommendation

It is beautiful around Leadville. I have backpacked close and stayed in a old -- used to be a stage coach stop and a brothel -- motel in a tiny town close by. I don't know where you are traveling from, but I am sure you will not be disappointed with the views.

    Heat Stroke Prevention

Let's hope that none of us succumb to heat stroke since it could be fatal. Heat exhaustion is bad enough! The CDC has some good info on their site. CDC Extreme Heat | A Prevention Guide to Promote Your Personal Health and Safety

    Colorado Camping Recommendation

Honestly, unless you go to a KOA campground, the odds are very much against you finding showers at any campgrounds in Colorado. There are a few, though not many. The only one I am aware of is Sylvan Lake, which is a state park and very far from RMNP. Check the YMCA in Estes Park, that...

    Colorado Camping Recommendation

Did you google "Colorado Campgrounds"? There are several websites that have loads of information about campgrounds. Some might have showers, but it is not the norm. State parks and their facilities are at this site... Colorado State Parks Do you mean Rocky Mountain National Park? I don't...

    I'm in love!!!

It happened spontaneously on the forums. There was some bantering going back and forth among some Colorado people and one suggested we should get together for a weekend. I knew we had a Texas friend coming to town soon, so we scheduled it for the weekend he would be there. I found the group...

    10 foods to take

My camping is almost exclusively backpacking. For that purpose, with the exception of marshmallows, milk stuff and sausage, the list looks pretty normal to me. A small container of olive oil goes a long way toward adding needed calories and flavor. Dried fruit is a real treat. Trail mix...

    Rain Coat Pack Debate

hmmm, I've never thought about turning it inside out. I just make sure it is dry before packing it. At home my rain gear hangs in the closet with other outerwear.

    I'm in love!!!

It's "The Winds" as in the Wind River Range in Wyoming. SWT (the abbreviated version of his name) has spent many months in the Winds. He has been backpacking since the early 70s and have loads of photos that he enjoys sharing. There are actually several regional gatherings that have come to...

    Dehydrator

The problem with the dehydrators that do not have a fan or temp setting is that they do not work very well on meat in high humidity environments. I had one like that and got rid of it in favor of a Nesco Gardenmaster I have dried veggies, fruit, meat and full meals with it all with great...

    Outcasting buddy

ChadTower is right. It takes two to create the situation. He's with her by choice and there's really nothing you can do about it. If you value him as a friend, just go on with your life, making sure that he always knows how to reach you.
