    Power Tools

Not exactly a bushcraft related question but it's at least about tools. :) I want to equip my garage with power tools. What tools would you buy first?

    Wimped out

Don't blame yourself. Sometimes even the best of us are not up for the challenge. Even though I can't live without my outdoor therapy I love my couch. :D

Not a lot of parents are blessed with such kids, good for you. A lot kids are bored to death by such weather but apparently not your kids. :)

    Varta Led Portable Lamp

I have a nice opinion of this brand, especially about their batteries. In my experience they are even better than Duracell and Energizer. But I can't advise you about specific lamp models.

Yet another one. Wear your life vest people

Well what you can do, people will be people. I admit sometimes I will forget or neglect such precautions but I know it's not a smart thing to do.

Do you bike in the snow? Is it even possible?

I've tried it a few times in the light snow and boy is it tiresome. If you're not in shape you won't enjoy it as much. :) But no one forbids you to try it.

    Living off the Grid.....

I just wish I had enough money and space to organize my life as some of you do. But living in an apartment doesn't allow you that much.

I used those before when I had other injuries. I will buy them again. They usually come in a fixed ratio combo. Thanks for the advice though.

    What Would You Want

Knife and firesteel is what I would want. With knife you can make almost anything, even fire. It would be hard to start a fire with it though.

    Hiking At Night!

I love to hike at night. First of all it lets me try all my flashlight and I'm a big fan of these. The only problem is that I have a hard time finding someone to go with me. :)

    Shoulder Pain?

Is it possible to injure your shoulder by sleeping in an awkward position? I use my upper arm almost as a pillow and get incredible pain in my shoulder when I wake up. It gets worse as times goes by.

Do you know a web site where I can buy good quality affordable closed cell foam for my camping pads? I need bigger pieces out of which I can cut my own measures.

Anyone tried out Rough Rider knives?

Do you perhaps remember that wise old saying: "I'm not rich enough to buy cheap things?" Buy something of quality, it will last you longer.

Do you think you would be able to survive on your own?

I think that one week would be pretty doable considering my experience. It would also depend on the environment. In some places it is almost impossible to find water.

What is your absolute favorite outdoor activity?

Answering this would be very hard because all activities become favorite when they are performed outdoors. :) I know it's a corny thing to say but it is true.

I agree that skill comes with time and practice, practice, practice, like you said. You need to be consistent and use your tool often for this. Happy holidays!!

    Hiking on holidays?

Yes I agree that your family needs to be inclined to this type of activity in order to tag along willingly. Some are blessed with such family some are not.

    Water Purifier

Katadyn Hiker Pro has been my choice for years. I don't see the need for more expensive water purifiers than this one. It purifies water just fine and it's relatively cheap.
