How are you all doing after those awful ice storms came through? Ice storms make for pretty scenery, but no electricity and branches coming down are no fun.

What is your favorite fish to catch and eat? Is that fish local so you can try to get it frequently, or can you only catch it yourself while on vacation?

Does anyone here actually enjoy camping in cold weather? I'm very sensitive to cold and can't imagine camping up north during the winter, but I know some people do and love it.

Do you have to worry about bears while camping? I really don't. You hear about them on very rare occasions here but people don't bother putting their food high up or anything.

How long was the longest hike you've ever taken? I've only hiked for a couple hours at the most; I'm not even sure how many miles that was.

Who here is a fan of deer sausage? I love it but haven't had it for years. I don't hunt myself, you see, and there really aren't many deer around here in any case. When I had deer sausage before, I was living in another state and my neighbor was an avid hunter, so he always brought some over.

I rappelled once when I was 10 years old. I figure that was old enough since I could follow directions without randomly doing crazy stuff. Do you think 10 years old is the minimum age to rappel? If not, with what age would you be comfortable?

Do you care if there are toilets available when you camp? I do; it's just much nicer to have real facilities available instead of a hole in the ground.

Do any of you go camping in the dead of winter? I hear of people doing it around here, of course, but it doesn't get that cold. I occasionally hear of people camping in the snow but I think they are crazy (no offense in advance :tinysmile_tongue_t:).

I was reading an interesting article showcasing ice caves. I've never seen one in person so for now anyway, I have to content myself with the stunning photos. Have you ever been to an ice cave?

One of the nearby nature preserves is having a Halloween hike for kids this weekend. I'd like to take them, since I know the hike isn't too arduous and I think they'd have fun, but the weather isn't cooperating. Are there any Halloween hikes in your area?

Do your s'mores have to be made a certain way? I think the marshmallows should be cooked over a fire, not in a microwave, and using fluff is cheating! Of course, I'll eat them anyway. :tinysmile_tongue_t:

Have you ever gone biking on the beach? I haven't done it yet, but I want to. I just need to get a bike first. Everyone around here has a basic beach cruiser.

If someone is on public land, (like a national park, for example) and gets hurt, does the park incur any liability? I wouldn't think so, but these days you never know.

The weather is finally starting to change and it's getting closer to prime camping time down here in Florida. After today the highs are only supposed to be in the low 80s, so I think I may take a camping trip next weekend. :D

Do you take extra bags to clean up litter when you camp? I often do, because I find the litter so irritating. I wish everyone would clean up after themselves though.

Do you take an air mattress along when you camp? If I had to hike into the camping spot, I wouldn't take one, but when the car is parked fairly close, I prefer to have the mattress. It's much more comfortable.

Have you ever taken a fishing tour? Did you find it particularly helpful or is it something you wouldn't recommend? I saw one offered nearby and thought it might be fun since I don’t have much fishing knowledge.

Have you ever ridden on a banana boat? They look absolutely ridiculous but are well shaped for people to ride on. It can be fun to be towed around on one.

A friend of mine went camping last weekend. I guess her idea of camping is renting a camper so she has a bed and a kitchen, with electric hookup so she can watch TV. I find this concept odd. Do you ever watch TV or have other luxuries while camping?
