    Cheapest High Quality Bushcraft Knives?

As with any tool and user....True skill lies in using a tool unintended for the job and achiving good results. Any knife will work, just be more creative and less abusive. And practice, practice, practice. Happy holidays!!

    Cheapest High Quality Bushcraft Knives?

If your intentions are to baton, I'd go with a full tang blade. Moras will baton, and I've never had this happen to me, but I've heard of the handle and blade separating with heavy use. However the newer hd 3/16" blades have a deeper tang and should take some serious abuse(because batoning IS...

Where do you ride? road or trail

Both for me. I have a road bike and a mtb. Actual mtb trails are quite a drive for me so I ride road or towpath more than anything. I also have two trials bikes so I also ride rock piles, tree stumps, loading docks, picnic tables or any balance line I can find.

    Blade on You?

The 06 Auto is the first serrated knife that I have liked. The S30V stainless is a wonderful steel alloy. The serrations come in handy on an EDC(never thought I'd say that) and has plenty of edge for daily chores. If I'm out in the bush I also have my BK-2. If I'm not worried about gear weight I...

    Cooking solo

Zatarans dinners are my go to, the black beans and rice is my fave. One box split in two ziplock bags for two meals. Just boil 2cups of water mix it all up in the cookpot and let sit for 20min or so in a homemade reflectex pot coozie, and bon appetite. Lipton and uncle bens make sides that I use...

    Hammock Camping

This is my Hennessy Explorer deluxe after a 28deg stormy night. With the Hennessy supershelter insulation system(plus an extra fleece blanket) on the bottom and my MSS intermediate as a top quilt I slept nice and toasty. The night before it rained 6"+ and I was glad to be high and dry under my tarp.

Could you start a fire without...

Only as a last resort do I use a match or lighter to make fire when I'm in the woods. I keep fatwood, charred cloth, beeswaxed terry cloth, petroleum jelly/cotton, magnesium bars and ferrocorium rods in my fire kits and use each as much as possible. I have gotten an ember with a bowdrill one...

    EpiPen but what else?

They are not for me, I have them because I've seen people starting aniphalitac shock because they forgot their epi-pen. It's not a pretty thing to witness. Stored properly, they don't go bad, just loose strength. Weak is better than nothing, and late is better than never.

    EpiPen but what else?

I have 2 epi-pens in my FAK and I've never had an allergic reaction or a prescription, I have them just in case. They are extras I received from family members. Benadryl and hydrocortisone work for the rashes.

Guess we better ban bows too

Heart disease kills more than any gun, bow or knife. Hence my signature.

Huge Knives That Can't Cut Wood

I'm with you on that Michael. Being a third generation tool & die machinist, tool care is bred into me. I have an estwing hatchet that was my grandfathers and is still used regularly as it was when brand new, with a nice patina now however. My knives are tools that I may hand down some day, so...

Huge Knives That Can't Cut Wood

There are a handful of knives under $80 that are made of great steel and will last a lifetime. And don't get me started on Morakniv, best bang for your $20 ever. I would never carry anything from BudK(or that type) into the woods. It is beyond me why people believe advertising at times.

    Any hangers?

I just ordered some whoopie slings for my Hennesy Explorer. Should make setup and adjusting the hang much easier and quicker.

    Any hangers?

With the Supershelter(spring 1/2 off sale now) it was $315 from Hennessy. The hammock, 10x12 hex tarp, suspension, snake skins, bottom insulation and shipping all included in that price. Hennessy has no-see-um mesh over the top of their hammocks, so bug protection is built in. Link to their...

    Any hangers?

I just got a Hennessy Explorer Deluxe hammock and supershelter for my birthday. After one night, I'm a convert, It was maybe my best night sleep ever. From now on, if I'm sleeping solo, I'll be in a hammock. Why did not try this years ago? Anyone else got the hammock bug?
