    Football in the Snow

Did any of you see the Philadelphia/Detroit football game last weekend? I loved it!! It was snowing so hard they had to clear the yard lines after every play. To me that's what football is all about.

    Turkey Call

Have any of you ever made a turkey call before? My dad made one for the boys years ago that I still have today. It was made from a wing bone fashioned together somehow with duct tape. Anybody?

    Persimmons

Have any of you ever done anything with persimmons? I grew up eating persimmon pudding, but not many people have. They think they're strictly for the "possums."

    Rambo

I know you've all seen this movie. It's my favorite one of all the Rambo movies. I could really see this happening in the area that I live. Dumb cops and a guy that knows how to survive could describe my town. My favorite part is when he covers himself with mud and blends in with the trees.

    Buffalo Burgers

Have you ever eaten buffalo burgers? I remember having one when I lived in Colorado years ago. It was good but a little stronger than beef. I wouldn't even know where to buy ground buffalo. Any suggestions?

    Salmon Stew

This is one of our favorites during the winter. One deboned can of salmon, a gallon of milk, a stick of butter and salt and pepper to taste. Add a ton of crackers to your bowl, a dash of hot sauce and you've got a tasty meal!:tinysmile_fatgrin_t

    Big Bear

The husband of a friend bagged a 450lb bear last week. Asked her what he was going to do with it. She already has a bear rug, and a head mounted. She is afraid he is going to have the whole bear stuffed this time to display somewhere in their home. When is it enough guys?

    Down from the Mountain

We have been seeing more and more deer in our urban neighborhood. They are migrating down from the mountain for some reason. Twice now in the last month there have been deer cross the road in front of me while I was going to church early on a Sunday morning. They are beautiful but I have no...

    Squirrel Stew

When I was a kid I remember mom making squirrel stew. I also remember it was pretty good. We are over run with squirrels this year. I'm thinking about revisiting my childhood. :)

    Late Fall?

For some reason, fall seems to be late this year here in the South. The leaves have only begun to change in the Appalachians and haven't even bothered yet in the flat lands. How does it look where you live?

    Fishin' in the Rain

With all the rain we've had this spring, I wonder how that's going to effect the fishing in my area. Right now the rivers and streams are over their banks and more rain in the forcast. My pole hand is getting itchy. :tinysmile_grin_t:

    Flavored with Mustard

Any of you ever coated a roast or ribs with mustard and cooked it on a grill or an open fire? We used to do this years ago and it produced juicy meat with a tasty flavor. If the mustard was too much, then you just scrape it off and go from there. The flavor is still evident and it's still...

    Cooking Rabbit

There's a fellow that lives close by who raises Australian rabbits for market. I have toyed with the idea of getting one but have no idea how to cook it. I know there's somebody out there who could give me some tips on cooking rabbit. Thanks! :tinysmile_shy_t:

    Safest Place

With the many disasters in the news today, both natural and man made, are any of us really safe? Where do you consider the safest place to be in the United States? This question has weighed on my mind lately as I am preparing for a move. What do you think?

    Survival for Beginners

Being relatively new to outdoor life, is there such a thing as "Survival for Dummies?" I know there are plenty of books on the subject but which one is best? What do you recommend?

    Bird Feeders

I would like to have a new bird feeder for Christmas this year. Is there such thing as a squirrel proof bird feeder. I am blessed with both around my house. Sometimes I think there are more squirrels than birds. Any suggestions?

    Leaks in the pool liner

Several years ago, we sprung a leak in our inground pool liner. All the usual methods of finding said leak did not work. We finally hired a scuba diver to come and take a look. Sure enough, in lest than 30 minutes he was done, leak patched and all was well. It was not cheap however.

    How many would survive?

Let's just say that for some reason, all the modern conveniences that we have now were gone. For whatever reason, it doesn't matter. How many would survive? How many of today's young people know how to hunt, plant gardens, cook on the open fire or even chop wood to keep warm. It would be an...

    Fried Squirrel

When I was a kid, we used to hun squirrel in the woods behind the house. Many a night mom would make fried squirrel, rice and gravy. I haven't had that in years. It's about time to go squirrel hunting again. You think?

    Winter Fish

Heading out to the east coast next weekend for a little R & R. Not interested much in fishing, just relaxing. However, I do hope there are some fresh fish available at the market. What's biting this time of year. Anybody know?
