    My car went hunting

My friend and I were headed out to a geocaching event. A deer ran out in front of us. I saw it last second and slammed in the brakes from 55mph. It jumped, clipped the front driver's fender, and crushed the windshield and roof. A passerby said the deer went about 20ft in the air and landed...

    A GPS for geocaching.

I've been using a Garmin Colorado for several years. One feature i like is the external antenna. I am also a premium GC.com member and love the paperless caching. I also search for NGS benchmarks. Too bad they discontinued it. The new eTrex line is nice. The screen is a little small for...

    Shoot me now

It is the worst feeling. I go through a box of popsicles. Taking hot showers helps clear my head too.

    Recommend a camp axe/hatchet?

Most definitely. Trying to plan another trip now that the weather is warming up. I almost bought the machete, but figured I could get an axe & knife. Just need to find one.

    How big is your tent?

Our newest tent is a 10x12 Eureka we got on clearance at Dick's. It's huge and over 6ft in the center. We use that when the while family goes. Also have a cheap 2 person 7x7. I recently bought a Magellan 1 person at Academy for $25 for backpacking.

    Recommend a camp axe/hatchet?

I just picked up a SOG Hand Axe at Knife Works in Sevierville, TN this weekend. I only paid $30. I have yet to use it, but it is comfortable and feels very solid. sogknives.com/hand-axe.html

    Fires In The Smokies

We are actually headed up there next week for our kids spring break. I was in awe when I saw what happened. It is so unfortunate. From what I've read, no one was hurt. My wife heard on the news that it started with a hit tub on a balcony. http:/...

What to Buy? vBass Pro Shop

I've already got the GPS (Garmin Colorado) that I use for geocaching. I have several maps to include the topo. BPS didn't really have any lightweight sleeping bags that I saw. A camp stove is a good idea. What would be a good start?

What to Buy? vBass Pro Shop

I still have a $100gc to Bass Pro and can't figure out what to buy. My son is in Cub Scouts so we camp a lot. I Geocache and want to get into backpacking. I have a few items, but don't want to jump in hardcore yet. Hikes might be a night or two to start. What I already have: - Merrell...
