You could buy him some chemicals that would help for making a campfire in seconds. There not toxic for nature, but still you have to use them wisely. Unfortunately i dont remember the name of this chemical.

thats true! you can nearly build and fix everything with it. I would not go survival if i dont have any duct tape with me. Ok, it depends on where you want to go survival. I think in the Forest you dont need it as much as you would do by canoeing

Once i forgot the time while hiking. The sun came down, the way back was too long and then there was no light anymore. i didnt had a cellphone to call somebody, so i got into the forest, where i tried to found some sleep, it was very dark and had a bit of a horror-movie. But everything was fine...

Good idea. it gives you a good sleep, when you were hiking the whole day. Maybe i ask my mother to walk with me along untouched landscapes. Because she has the best recipe! Greetings

Thermarest is really good. The air mattress would be too dangerous, in my opinion. Dont want to buy things dozens of time.
