How to lighten the load on a budget

If you are a lightweight backpacker, it's all about experimenting. You will find that some things work, and some things do not. Ultimately, to avoid buying useless things and get the most bang for your buck you should ask yourself; "Will I use this?" or "Is this TOO much of a luxury item?"...

    Making seats more comfortable

I have thinly knitted seat padding that is super uncomfortable, not mention, broken. Even though they look uncomfortable, this padding is more durable and comfortable. Also it is connected to the seat so you don'y have to take it on and off. (I have tried it on other canoes. Still haven't fixed...

Best Coffee Maker for Fire Pit and Over Fire Camp Grill recommendations ????

Food for thought: Coffee beans in a can is WAY heavier than tea bags. I know people love their coffee but personally, I'm more of a tea drinker. If you need the caffeine, most teas are caffeinated too! (you don't need the tea pot you can you something use already have for camping)

When you go hiking or backpacking, will you take a water filter?

If you going with a big group, divided amounts of water or a group water bladder should work (as long as everyone has an equal load:Boink:if you know what I mean.) But, I like the idea of Iodine.

What lighting do you use for camping?

Normally I use an LL. Bean flashlight that doubles as a lantern. There is also this thing called Gravity Light, I've never used it but, it might be cool if you hang it in a tent. (however it might be heavy for backpacking)

What are the best places to hike with children in the New York area?

I spend a lot of my summer in Upstate New York and love to hike there, specifically Lake George. Prospect Mt. Is pretty good for beginners, but you might need sturdy shoes if you go the whole way, but there is an option to bus up and/or down if your kids don't have the attention span to go the...

    Cheap Camping Supplies?

OutdoorsmanLab has a sleeping pad that's relatively cheap, lightweight for backpacking and only takes around 15 breaths to blow up. I went on a three day trip to test it out and it worked great!!! Highly recommended. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M9I8RAN/ref=twister_B07CS7WZQG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
