For camping, I always go for tents. Hammock when kids are around, that pleases them.

These tips and strategies were great. But, I always prefer a tent, I never try tarp before. This old post is very helpful. Thanks for sharing.

Hatchet and a knife., I imagine stuff that I can create for survival using those blades. I always carry not just one conventional firelighter to be safe and I prefer to have some energy bars, too.

It's illegal in Central Park. But, we pitch a tent and camp in Pelham Bay Park, Alley Pond Park, etc. Have you been there?
