I thought this would be helpful to post here. For those of you looking to lighten you load while backpacking or for those of you just starting out backpacking and want a list to use as a reference.

In my opinion, the best way to backpack is light. Only bring the things you need and nothing more. This will mean different things to different people, like some people need a pillow to sleep on, I just use my down jacket as a pillow.

Welcome joevogel, I've never back packed camped, but maybe one of these days I'll take a shot of it. Quite a thorough and extensive list. That was very interesting.

I'll admit that I do miss backpacking but, at the same time, I gotta say that if I'm going to spend $3500 to go camping, I'm buying a used camper. :)
