Who, amongst you, are planning to have blackeyed peas on New Years' Day?
My late, beloved father-in-law, who spent alot of his life in New Orleans, religiously ate a mess of blackeyed peas every January the First. He said that doing so would make a person wealthy before the year was out. Well, it never worked for him, and so far hasn't worked for me. My husband refuses to keep his Daddy's custom; he says he doesn't care for the taste. I think they taste pretty good, and so I keep the Sacred Blackeyed Peas Custom. (I might get rich one of these years).
