I noticed the large gooseberry bush on my land was full of berries, tasted a few and determined to pick them the following morning. I arrived the next morning only to find the bush completely denuded of berries. I couldn't find one!

I did find the bear tracks. I talked to a DNR officer who told me I couldn't shoot it because bears are protected in the State of Indiana. I protested mildly by saying that the bear was stealing my food. Whereupon he said that bears, cougars (or any other lion), tigers and giraffes are all protected species in Indiana unless they are attacking you.

I guess if I shoot a bear, I'll put a pistol in his paw and say he drew first.
