The lubber's Line.

A lubber line is a fixed line on a compass binnacle or radar plan position indicator display pointing towards the front of the ship or aircraft and corresponding to the craft's centerline.

Cappy was off campin' and didn't see this. I prolly would not have gotten it right anyways no one refers to it as a lubber line anymore just as a heading line.

Cool. My Dad was in the Navy during the Korean war. I'll have to quiz him about this.

Crud.. I forgot to ask him. I know he loves talking about this kind of stuff. Back in the late 60s, when we lived in Michigan, Dad would make a little extra money working up at the local ski slope mending their lines. My older brother told me that Dad saved them lots of money because there weren't anyone local that knew how to do that kind of stuff. He said he hated the Navy, but he sure knows a lot about boats and sea stuff. I'll try to remember to ask him and report back on it.
