Well I guess we had to have the topic sooner or later. People here are doing the whole nation wide panic thing of buying toilet paper, hand sanitizer and other things just like elsewhere. Schools are closed this week due to spring break and currently will be closed the following week. Church was cancelled yesterday for us. My buddy at wal-mart said it is a mad house there. I'm just ready for the panic to be over. My only worry honestly is my sons medical travels. I know some of the hospitals are setup for doing video checkups, not sure if the Houston is or not, but our Tampa location is. Otherwise it is pretty much life as normal for us. Gas is cheap right now, which is nice because I have some running around to do, including a job interview tomorrow at my season work place. We were thinking about Chuck-E-Cheese for the birthday gift for our daughter and son (yesterday and tomorrow b-days), but there is talk of them closing down for a bit.

much a do bout nuffin far as I think. Way worse viruses have come and went with hardly any notice. We live in the country and hurricane country too. We are always stocked up we buy tp by the great big bail packs and always keep one pack on hand when we down to 1 we buy 2. gallon water our cabinet holds 10 gallons and we keep it full. Since I drink sink water it last us a month or so. We Were in town today and picked up 6 lbs of assorted dry beans and 5lb of rice not cause of no virus it was time to stock up.

The reality is that we are in serious trouble no matter who or how you want to slice it. We have been warned about these possibilities in modern times. Have you ever seen this before or the magnitude of the circumstance? Just sayin. When it is over we have the aftermath and that's going to be something to behold.

But on a lighter note,
I'm headed for spaces and people that I enjoy most. I figure if I'm smart I'll get as much in as I can as often as I can with the people I enjoy being with.

In the meantime, stick closer to home and with friends until it blows over. The sooner the better.

Well Shriners Hospital in Houston called and they cancelled my sons appointment next week. Maybe I'm kinda of selfish but I'm wondering how that will effect (or is it affect, can never remember) his pallet spreader. We are told to stop turning it after the days are up until they can see him. He was actually excited to get his next surgery done as he really wants his mouth fixed and I guess this is going to delay that.

Maybe due to the hurricanes we get through here, but I feel I'm prepared for a month easily. Hurricanes we have to worry about power going out, and that is one less thing to worry about.

Had a job interview yesterday to possibly go full time, but now they are not sure when they will hire with the virus. Bars are to be closing early, and lots of other places are cutting hours to the public, or making some hours shopping for elderly only.

I hope this virus moves on through with out much disaster. My Dad just turned 85 and is in a nursing home due to breaking his hip and having a stroke last fall. Mom is in an assisted living facility, not doing much better, but getting by. They've closed these places to visitors for the residents safety, so I haven't sat with either of them since last week. And to top it off, when I came to work last night one of the guys that work afternoon shift, in my department, was sitting outside on a bench looking very green to the gills. After 2nd shift cleared out we were sitting around wondering if he just had a bug, and hopefully not the virus. Someone brought up that it hits older people the hardest, and then they all looked at me. Thanks alot guys!

Even if I could visit my parents it may not be a good idea now.

Maybe this will blow by and then we all get back to normal. And hopefully your son will get taken care of.

You all stay safe.

Maybe your business prospects will improve soon Jason. I work for an automotive and diesel Pistons manufacturer, and there's rumors of us shutting down for a couple of weeks. I don't know what to expect, but of they do shut down maybe wifey and I will go camping [emoji2512].

Just ran to post office first time out and about since Friday. every thing seems normal few people at post office few cars at doller store bout normal for our lil community. I guess folks figure sheltering in town is as good as sheltering at home as every one knows every one ad we have little to no through traffic, Did notice the town hall was closed hadda slide or payment for utilities in the after hours slot. Weird thing when ya go in to pay the bill the gals are behind a glass wall ya gotta speak through a speaker to them and they have a drawer they take ya payment through.

An older brother and his wife are in an assisted living center. No one but medical people can get in or out.

News last night said people were flocking to the Utah National Parks in such numbers they may have to shut them down.

We went to the city today and got everything we needed. Including a bundle of TP. Sportsmans Warehouse had a fence around the guns with a guard so a clerk had to be available to get in. People were hauling out guns and ammo as fast as the clerks could process them. Went to the farm store and the guy at the gun counter said people who had never owned a gun, never wanted to own a gun, were buying two. SCARY.

Well, I just found out an hour ago, when I first got to work, that as of this Monday I am laid off. I did volunteer for the 2 weeks because the other 2 guys in my department are younger and have kids. I ain't been laid off in 28 years. Don't know what to expect. I ain't been laid off in 28 years.

...for what assurance it brings. For those of you who have folks in long term care centers, I know that there has been an increase in social attention paid to Residents/Clients.

In my situation, I've increased my visitation significantly and have introduced small group programs to ward of separation anxiety [home sickness]. We don't take your place by any means, but we are substitutes working hard to assure good care of your loved ones.

The elderly that are in care facilities enjoy visits and the attention they receive from people. With some it is what they look forward to each day. Thank you to all who take time from your busy schedules to visit these people. I should have plenty of time, for the next week or two, to stop by outside my parents window and wave at them. Let's hope this virus, uneventfully, moves on through. You all stay safe and well.

The have shut down the elderly home here to visitors. Stores are setting an hour on once or twice a week for the elderly to shop too, usually in the morning when the stores are fresh and clean. McDonald's is offering free kids meals during the week to children. The wife also bought more meat birds.

All schedule checkups and therapies for our kids have been cancelled. My wife took our son to the specialist for a possible broken finger (see Shoot bull thread) and got phone screened before she was allowed to go down. They are only allowing one parent to be with the child, no siblings unless they are injured also.

I haven't seen a run on ammo here yet, but I also don't have the resources to go looking. A local dealer however has said they had 600 1st time buyers the past week. Not sure how true that is, just what the posted on facebook. My neighbor who I think is starting to panic has mentioned buying her first gun due to all this. She was also asking us about raising meat birds, she already has egg layers.

We are ok and hope you all are too we are eating on a big pot of da wifes refrigerator soup, She makes this once a week or 2 out of stuff in the fridge that needs using up. It is never the same and always delicous she makes a big pot full and it last 3 or 4 days always better later. We can easily eat well for a month or more with what we always have at hand. Not so easily make it lots longer as long as the utilities hold out. It shnouldn't be that bad so we not very worried. Havent even loaded up yet.....

Wow...things looking a bit rough there Cappy. I forget some people's circumstances because I'm still working. The earlier shortages we've seen have been dealt with - mostly brought on by thoughtless individuals thinking of themselves. It's really unusual to see the gas prices dropping as low as they have been recently. One good thing I have observed - the community has pulled together like I haven't seen before. I think we finally got the message and have calmed down enough to pay attention to doing things right. Time will tell of course. I think our next fear is the possibility of depression. Our government is spending a lot of bucks on the social care of the people. Our Ministries of Education are about to launch new out of class teaching at the end of school break and universities have also set up new innovative initiatives to meet Student meeds.

Anyway...I'm babbling away here. I wish you and your Family more than well as I do all those who are members of this fabulous site.

...that's a relief Cappy - really good to hear that. I thought back to when I was a youngster. When we had an abundance of soup my brother and I knew money in the household was short. :Smile2:
