I signed up for a free Jiffy recipe booklet online-sorry, don't remember the link-probably just their website. They had a few pages on Camping Foods but only one that involved coals, the rest sounded like kitchen made to feel/look like campfood. Here's the dessert they had:

Fruit Cobbler-Each serving gets a square of aluminum foil. Core and slice your favorite fruit-apple, pear, peach or apricot-and put in center of foil. Sprinkle with sugar and 2T of Jiffy Baking Mix. Double fold to make a tight seal, put on coals for 15-20 minutes.

Sounds good, right?

It sounds awesome - not just good. I love it when you can actually find recipes that you cook in the coals. You are right - a lot of camping recipes you can actually use right on a grill.
