Many campers enjoy socializing with a small group of fellow campers. Such groups will arrange events throughout the year to allow members with similar interests or from similar geographical areas to get together. This allows families to form small close knit societies, and children form lasting friendships.

Anthing yu have done..pls comment on this

A bunch of friends of ours get together for one weekend during the summer and go camping. It is a lot of fun and it's weird after so many years to see the group grow with kids and new friends added every year.

We live on the coast, but we lived in a nearby city for ten years, and made loads of friends at a company my husband used to work for. Several times a year a big bunch of them camp out at a park close to us. We spend the day having fun in the forest and lake with them, and into the night, enjoying a killer campfire and yummy (veggie) camp stove food. When it comes for our friends to bed down, we head for home (and our electricity, indoor plumbing, and soft bed). Best of both worlds, if you ask me.

I really love the idea of social camping...especially becasue you are doing what you love to do with a groups of people who are as passionate about outdors as you are....and yes these friendships do stay for a long long time

I hate the idea of social camping, I want to be just with my family and maybe close friends. I camp to get away from people!

Actually the people we do camp with are close friends and family. We do go with just the hubby and the boys also a few times a year and that is a lot of fun also.

I like social camping. It is better when you go in larger groups. There are more people to interact with and also I feel safer .

My husband's family do it and we tried it once but we hated it, we prefer to do our own thing on our own.

We don't enjoy social camping either, it is much nicer when we go on our own, it is more relaxed.

I think social camping is a nice way to have a family reunion where you can get together with family you don't see as often.

It is nice if you all like the same thing, but often families have little in common apart from being related to each other.

I like to do things at my own pace in my own time. It really annoys me when other people want to dictate where we go, when we eat etc. That is why I prefer to be with just my immediate family

The closest I have come to this sort of camping would be going out with a school group, which is more social for the students than it is for the adults.

Our school district has an outdoor education center in the foothills and each year, each school send 5th graders an teachers out for a weekend stay.

I've taken my turn at chaperon only once for this event. I took me a week to recover from the exhaustion!

LOL

My daughter (a student) goes camping with a group of about 10 friends each year. Mostly she finds it enjoyable but last year one friend became difficult and spoilt it to some extent by being moody. He left the group and this caused problems because he had transported a lot of the luggage in his car.
