According to police, David Sarber III, 18, from Cooperstown was camping with a friend at the Kinzua Reservoir in Mead Township.
While packing to leave the camp, their canoe drifted away from shore. Sarber jumped into the water to try and retrieve the canoe. He eventually swam back to shore to shed some clothing that included: a jacket, two sweatshirts and boots.
